Like many Denver “natives,” Father Fox was born and raised someplace else. His home is originally Rapid City, South Dakota, where he grew up in a parish named St. John the Evangelist. He is privileged to be a part of a large family, having two brothers and four sisters. He came to Denver in the fall of 1967 to attend St. Thomas Seminary College from which he graduated in 1970. He completed his theological formation at St. Thomas Seminary as well and was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Denver in December of 1974.

Father Fox has had the privilege to serve in several parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Denver. He served as a parochial vicar of Divine Redeemer Catholic Church in Colorado Springs (when Colorado Springs was still part of the Archdiocese of Denver) and as a chaplain to the Youth Ministry Program of the Archdiocese. He served as pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rifle, Colorado, and its missions in Silt, New Castle, and Parachute and Battlement Mesa for 7 ½ years. Subsequently, he served as pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont for 12 ½ years and as the pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Aurora for 11 years. He was appointed pastor of Good Shepherd in June of 2010.

Father Fox says that each parish he served has proven to be an amazing experience and a gift of untold blessings. At Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, small Christian communities were just emerging as a way of nurturing the faith life of Catholics beyond the Eucharistic celebration. In Youth Ministry he traveled to parishes all over the Archdiocese and experienced the joy, enthusiasm and faith of our youth seeking to find expression and ways to serve the Lord. In western Colorado, he lived through an age of boom and bust. Small rural communities were transformed by a large human migration coming to Colorado because of their hopes for jobs and a secure future for their families. These dreams were shattered by the almost complete shut-down of the oil shale industry just two years later. Helping a community recover from such a devastating financial downturn was an experience in humility and grace as people worked to help each other survive with dignity. St. John the Baptist Catholic Church introduced him to his second Catholic School (the first being Divine Redeemer in Colorado Springs). Longmont was a community growing from a small city into a large suburban community of metro Denver. In Longmont, a planning process brought about the building of the first new classrooms for the school since the 1920’s when it was founded and a new parish multi-purpose center. One of the many blessings of St. Michael the Archangel was its diversity. People from every continent, including some who had worked in Antarctica, worshiped together every weekend. Every Sunday celebration was a unique experience of God’s promise to build a new kingdom.
